Why to Attend the American Rhinelogic Society

Dr. Sarah Weiss, President Elect of the American Rhinelogic Society (ARS) and this year’s Program Chair for Scientific Meetings invites you to register for the ARS Annual Meeting taking place at the Marriott in Downtown Philadelphia, Friday – Saturday, September 9 and 10. In this video, she shares what we can expect.

The David Kennedy Lectureship is a highlight every year, where, this year, Professor Claire Hopkins from London will be speaking about improving outcomes in sinus surgery.

Dr. Weiss is honored that this year’s meeting will host the inaugural Huang Family Lecture, which is a newly established annual meeting named lectureship with a theme of mentor and mentorship.

This year more than 70 abstracts for oral scientific presentations were accepted highlighting new research and discovery in rhinology, allergy, sinonasal tumors, skull-base surgery and more. Additionally, over 100 posters have been accepted that further spotlight scientific advances.

Presentations and panels will focus on different aspects of rhinology, like deep machine learning and artificial intelligence, skull-base malignancies and skull-based reconstruction. On the inflammatory side, there will be a unified airway update and a panel on cough and its relationship to rhinology.

The future of rhinology will also be examined through a combined panel with the American Academy of Otolaryngic Allergy. There will be plenty of interesting educational events to choose from, such as climate change and its effect on rhinology and a panel called ensuring diversity in rhinologic research.

At a combined lunch on Saturday, sponsored by the Women in Rhinology Section and Diversity and Inclusion Residents and Fellows and Mentorship Committees, guest speaker Simone Hicks will talk about medical contracts and negotiations from a legal perspective.

During the two-day meeting, there will be opportunity for social and networking events to see new and familiar faces and the chance for lots of learning to take place.

Dr. Weiss is so excited to have been a part of the planning process this year and looks forward to seeing everyone in Philadelphia next month.
